A workshop titled “EU Sustainability Standards and Diversity – Opportunities for the Textile and Fashion Industry” was held on 6 October 2025 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. The event brought together industry representatives and experts to discuss upcoming EU requirements and the importance of preparing companies for the green and digital transition.
A central part of the workshop was dedicated to the AEQUALIS4TCLF project, which aims to strengthen skills and innovation capacities in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors, with a strong emphasis on equality, diversity and sector resilience. Project representatives highlighted how new modular curricula and short training formats (micro-credentials) will help companies build a workforce ready for sustainability and digital transformation.
Speakers also underlined that diversity, gender equality and responsible working conditions are becoming essential elements of the new EU framework, alongside requirements on reporting, eco-design and circularity. Participants were encouraged to view sustainability and diversity not as an additional cost, but as an investment that increases competitiveness and opens access to the EU market.
