AEQUALIS4TCLF: Promoting Sustainability in VET

On 22 October 2026, the national conference “The Relationship Between Humans and Nature” was held at the Construction Department of Kaunas Technology Training Centre. The conference focused on various measures and approaches aimed at raising environmental awareness, fostering a responsible attitude towards nature, and promoting sustainable lifestyles.
Aurelija Bulcienė, a vocational teacher at Klaipėda Technology Training Centre, participated in the conference and delivered a presentation entitled “Developing Sustainability Competences in Vocational Education and Training: Experiences from the Erasmus+ Alliance for Innovation Project AEQUALIS4TCLF and Practical Solutions in the Textile Sector.”
The presentation explored how sustainability competences can be integrated into vocational education and training, becoming an integral part of everyday professional decision-making rather than being treated as a separate topic. Drawing on the experience of the AEQUALIS4TCLF project, the presentation addressed the training programmes being developed within the project, the importance of cooperation between vocational education and training institutions and businesses, and specific approaches to developing sustainability competences. These included analysing the product life cycle, assessing material use, implementing zero-waste and upcycling projects, applying digital product passports, and carrying out tasks based on real-world challenges faced by companies.
